What's Afoot in Cloverdale Rants

Okay. We really love Cloverdale, but you know there are some things that just bug us. This is where we get to rant and rave.

It's our website, and we can say whatever we want (barring slander of course). If you have a different opinion, or better still, if you agree, please let us know. That's why we have a contact page.

Don't get me started…

Dead Sign Rant: Has anyone else noticed that dead sign at the north end of town that's been there for as long as I can remember.

If you're traveling north on Cloverdale Boulevard, up past the new Schat's Bakery, just before you begin climbing the hill to the Hamburger Ranch & Pasta Farm, on the right, you'll see this big ole' dead sign sprawled out on the ground directly across the street from the newly renovated motel.

FOR GOD'S SAKE. Whoever owns the place, GET RID OF THE DEAD SIGN. Give it a decent burial. It's an eyesore.

Rant o' the Day: So what's with the commotion all of a sudden about the downtown beautification project being "bad" for Cloverdale.

For as long as I've lived in Cloverdale, I've dreamed of the day when those God-awful light stanchions mired in the ugliest concrete median imaginable would be replaced by a "pretty little tree-lined street with flowers blooming in a lazy plaza (they're always blooming in my vision), all wrapped up in inviting storefronts."

Now it's all "Two lanes this! No! Four lanes that." "Parking this! No parking that!" I want to know where the heck all of these voices are coming from now that my dream is about to become a reality. Here's the deal. I'm about as apolitical as they come (except for war), and I don't lay claim to any community government savvy. But I do know this. Nobody has the right to burst my pretty bubble (never mind it's fictional quality), and make me start to worry about traffic patterns when Cloverdale has waited so long for a makeover.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Take that!
